Safeguarding Children and Adults at Risk

Aquatic professionals are in a unique position, working with learners, many of whom are children or young people, but also with adults who may be at risk. The purpose of this unit is to develop knowledge and awareness of safeguarding; protecting these populations to ensure that learners and aquatic teachers have a productive, safe and enjoyable experience.

This CPD will provide aquatic professionals with an understanding of importance of safeguarding, the different forms of abuse, the position of trust, role of statutory agencies, how to respond to concerns, best practice recommendations, and safer recruitment procedures.

This CPD is suitable for all aquatic professionals; baby and pre-school swimming teachers, swimming teachers, disability swimming teachers and tutors. Aquatic instructors such as pool snorkelling instructors, aquacise instructors, poolside helpers and swimming assistants may also find this unit beneficial.
