Technical Notice : HSE Advice on Reduced First Aid Cover within an Organisation

Posted on 3rd April 2020

The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) has issued advice for organisations to comply with the law, when due to Covid-19 have found first aid cover for their business reduced or they are unable to access first aid training.

The HSE are recommending organisations review their first aid needs assessment and decide if they can still provide the cover needed for their present employees and the activities they are doing. The HSE are also recommending where possible that organisations share first aid cover with another business.

The full guidance from HSE can be found here.

HSE have also granted a 3 month extension on First Aid at Work (FAW) and Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW) certificates which expire on or after 16th March. In order to apply for an extension on a STA FAW or EFAW certificate please contact qualificationdevelopment@safetytrainingawards.co.uk.
