Technical Notice: Completion of Award Course Portfolio to Access the STA Level 2 Certificate in Teaching Swimming

To support learners and ensure standards and quality are maintained, learners who hold the old STA Award in Swimming Teaching qualification must complete the NEW STA Award Question Portfolio before attending the STA Certificate in Teaching Swimming course.
The New STA Award in Teaching Swimming Question Portfolio needs to be completed prior to attending the STA Certificate in Teaching Swimming course and submitted to the course tutor for marking. Previous lesson plans and schemes of work from the learner’s original STA Award in Swimming Teaching qualification will sit alongside the completed question portfolio. It is the responsibility of the Approved Training Centre’s (ATC) Centre Co-Ordinator to ensure learners attending a STA Certificate Course have completed the STA Award in Teaching Swimming Question Portfolio. This can be downloaded via STA Online. Learners who hold the New STA Award in Teaching Swimming do not need to complete the question portfolio.
The question portfolio only contains the additional questions and elements within the new STA Award in Teaching Swimming. This allows learners to upskill to the new STA Certificate in Teaching Swimming units and meet the requirements of the CIMSPA Professional Standard.
