External Quality Assurance Fees for ATCs and Guidance for International ATCs Released

Posted on 16th July 2018

Safety Training Awards is pleased to release its fee structure for external quality assurance (EQA) monitoring activities today, as well as new policies to support those ATCs who operate outside the UK in how their courses will be externally quality assured and how to address language differences in other countries for the delivery of Safety Training Awards regulated qualifications.

The EQA’s prime function is to provide advice, guidance and support to centres who deliver our qualifications, or who wish to deliver our qualifications to maintain the quality of assessment and internal quality assurance practice within their centre, and ensure our requirements are being met. EQA monitoring activities conducted for ATCs are subject to a fee payable by the ATC, which is dependent upon the type of monitoring activity chosen by the EQA.

For those who have been granted approved training centre status prior to the 1st August 2018 deadline, Safety Training Awards is pleased to announce that they will not be subject to the fees for their initial EQA visit by their allocated external quality assuser; this only applies during the transition period in 2018. The external quality assurance fees will apply to all centres granted approval from 1st August 2018.

Please refer to the external quality assurances fees structure for full information on the fees payable for EQA monitoring activities by ATCs and how these are determined.

In addition to this, two new policies have been released to support those international ATCs who operate outside the UK:

  • An special international EQA policy, which explains how international ATCs who deliver Safety Training Awards regulated qualifications will be externally quality assured—ensuring they are able to continually meet the approval criteria and that effective quality assurance procedures are in place.
  • A ‘use of languages’ policy which establishes the expectations on ATCs for how to address language differences when delivering and assessing Safety Training Awards regulated qualifications.

Both of these policies are available to view from our policies page.
