Policies and Procedures for ATC Application Process

Posted on 22nd March 2018

Through feedback from our members, it has been highlighted that developing the required policies and procedures to support the mandatory ATC approval process from Safety Training Awards is delaying our members from completing their ATC agreements and submitting their applications to us.

As previously stated Safety Training Awards’ aim is to support and guide you throughout this process, so we have made the decision to allow members to submit their ATC agreements to us whilst you are developing your policies and procedures to protect the interests of the learners.

ATC Approval will be granted on the understanding that you sign an agreement confirming you will develop and implement the required policies and procedures by Wednesday 1st August 2018 to support your ATC application.

A copy of the agreement can be found on our ATC resources page for completion and submission to Safety Training Awards.

The required policies are as follows:

  • Equality and Diversity Policy
  • Complaints Policy
  • Appeals Policy
  • Malpractice and Maladministration Policy
  • Safeguarding Policy (where applicable)
  • Health and Safety Policy
  • Internal Quality Assurance (IQA) Policy

Please refer to Safety Training Awards’ Guidance for Setting Policies and Procedures for Learners for supporting information in developing these policies.

Please submit any policies and procedures you currently have along with your completed ATC agreement; if any of the required policies are outstanding, the condition set in the ATC Policies and Procedures Agreement will apply.

Due to regulatory requirements we are encouraging all members to complete and submit their ATC agreement to Safety Training Awards as soon as possible, rather than delaying this process until the set deadline of Wednesday 1st August 2018. This will allow us to support you throughout this process by assigning an experienced External Quality Assurer (EQA).

Safety Training Awards are obliged to inform our centres that we as an Awarding Organisation are subject to a regulatory audit. Furthermore, we are requesting that centres submit their completed ATC agreements as soon as possible, this will allow our compliance function to arrange for External Quality Assurance support and visits to centres ensuring we are compliant with regulatory requirements.

We would like to thank you for your continued support throughout this process.
