Practical Pool Sessions on STA Baby and Pre-School Award Courses

Posted on 21st February 2017

To maintain and improve the high standards of the Baby and Pre-School Award qualification, STA requires all candidates to have access to babies and pre-school learners during practical pool teaching sessions.

Course organisers are required to provide between two and four adult-and-child pairs for each teaching station during the practical sessions of a course. The Baby and Pre-School Award course is designed to train candidates to be able to deliver aquatic activities including paddle strokes to babies and pre-school learners in an adult-and-child lesson; therefore these candidates must have practical teaching experience with babies and pre-school learners in order to prepare them for this role.

It is unacceptable for candidates to teach each other with dolls during practical teaching sessions and the examination. If learners of the correct ability are unavailable, STA must be notified ahead of the course start date via the Technical Manager for Aquatics.

If you have any questions regarding these requirements, please do not hesitate to get in touch with us.
