STA Legionella Competent Person Course

The STA Legionella Competent Person course gives learners knowledge on how Legionella is transmitted, the role of a competent person and legislation they need to adhere to as well as risk management including how to reduce the risk of Legionella.

A Legionella Competent Person is an individual appointed to manage the risk of Legionella bacteria on a site, possessing sufficient authority, competence, and knowledge of water systems and relevant health and safety laws. The role is vital for ensuring compliance with regulations and preventing Legionnaires’ disease, which can have severe health consequences.

On successful completion, learners will be able to act as the Legionella Competent Person who is able to carry out risk assessments, implement control measures, ensure proper monitoring and record-keeping to manage Legionella risks.

Learners are required to complete all components of the programme and pass the Multiple Choice Questions Assessment at the end of the programme.
