UPDATE on the Easing of COVID-19 Restrictions for ATC’s Training and Assessing Lifesaving Qualifications

Posted on 16th July 2021

Following discussions with RLSS UK this week, in response to the three UK governments announcing differing plans for the easing of restrictions, we have agreed to be united in our approach in continuing to ask ATCs to follow COVID-19 guidance when training and assessing STA’s lifesaving qualifications.

STA supports RLSS with this decision, and wholly agrees that because of the practical assessments required in face-to-face lifesaving training, which involve close contact with other individuals, that this presents too much of a risk at the moment, and especially with COVID cases continuing to rise.

Please continue to refer to Safety Training Awards guidance for the delivery of face-to-face lifesaving training here.

This guidance applies to ATCs in England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland.
